HOW I WORK

From ambiguity to execution

The same sequence works whether the challenge is a new revenue stream, a stalled strategic initiative or a service that no longer fits its customers.

Each phase connects a business question with a practical output and a decision. The purpose is not to produce more documents, but to build enough clarity to move forward with confidence.

Ambiguity

Understand

Understand the problem, context and stakeholders.

Discover

Identify opportunities and sources of value.

Evaluate

Assess potential, feasibility, investment and risk.

Prioritize

Decide what is worth pursuing.

Design

Build the business model, product or service.

Execute

Turn the strategy into an executable initiative.

Measure

Track value, adoption, performance and learning.

Ambiguity

Ambiguity is the starting point—not a separate phase. We begin with an unresolved challenge, an emerging opportunity, or an initiative whose direction is unclear.

01 — Understand

Define the right challenge before solving it.

Understand the problem, context and stakeholders.

Objective

Build a shared understanding of what needs to change, why it matters, and what a successful outcome would look like.

Approach

We examine the business context, listen to stakeholders, review available evidence, and clarify the constraints. We distinguish symptoms from underlying issues and make assumptions explicit before committing to a solution.

Key outputs

- A clearly framed business challenge.
- A map of relevant stakeholders, needs, and constraints.
- Initial success criteria and questions that require further investigation.

Decision enabled

What problem are we solving—and what is within scope?

02 — Discover

Find where meaningful value could be created.

Identify opportunities and sources of value.

03 — Evaluate

Test the opportunity before committing resources.

Assess potential, feasibility, investment and risk.

Objective

Determine whether an opportunity has a credible business rationale and can be developed under realistic conditions.

Approach

We assess potential value, demand, delivery requirements, costs, dependencies, and risk. We distinguish evidence from assumptions and use scenarios or targeted validation where uncertainty could change the decision. The depth of analysis should match the size and consequences of the investment.

Key outputs

- An assessment of value potential and feasibility.
- Investment requirements, risks, and critical dependencies.
- A record of assumptions and a plan to validate the most important ones.

Decision enabled

Should we advance, test further, reshape, or stop this opportunity?

04 — Prioritize

Make deliberate choices about where to focus.

Decide what is worth pursuing.

Objective

Select the initiatives that best support the organization’s objectives within its available resources and capacity.

Approach

We compare opportunities using agreed criteria such as strategic fit, value potential, feasibility, urgency, and risk. We consider dependencies and trade-offs across the portfolio—not just the attractiveness of each initiative in isolation.

Key outputs

- A prioritized opportunity or initiative portfolio.
- A clear rationale for selection, deferral, or rejection.
- A proposed sequence aligned with resources and dependencies.

Decision enabled

What should we pursue now, what should wait, and what should we not pursue?

05 — Design

Turn a selected opportunity into a workable proposition.

Build the business model, product or service.

Objective

Define how the opportunity will create value, who it will serve, and what is required to make it work.

Approach

We translate the opportunity into a value proposition and a business, product, or service model. We define the customer experience, operating requirements, commercial logic, and initial scope. Where appropriate, we use prototypes or a minimum viable offering to test critical assumptions before designing the full solution.

Key outputs

- A defined value proposition and solution concept.
- A business model and supporting business case.
- Initial scope, operating requirements, and a validation roadmap.

Decision enabled

What exactly should we build—and what must be proven before scaling it?

06 — Execute

Give the initiative ownership, structure, and momentum.

Turn the strategy into an executable initiative.

Objective

Translate the proposed solution into coordinated work with clear accountability and a realistic delivery path.

Approach

We define workstreams, owners, milestones, resources, dependencies, and governance. We establish how progress will be reviewed, risks managed, and decisions escalated. The delivery approach is adapted to the initiative: some work requires structured planning; other work benefits from iterative testing and adjustment.

Key outputs

- An execution roadmap with owners and milestones.
- A governance and decision-making structure.
- A delivery backlog or work plan, with risks and dependencies.

Decision enabled

Who will do what, in what sequence, and how will we keep the initiative moving?

07 — Measure

Check whether the initiative is creating the intended value.

Track value, adoption, performance and learning.

Objective

Understand whether the initiative is delivering its intended benefits and use that evidence to guide the next decision.

Approach

We connect measures to the original business objectives, establish baselines where possible, and define how evidence will be collected and reviewed. We look beyond completed activities to customer adoption, operating performance, and business value. Findings feed back into the solution and the opportunity portfolio.

Key outputs

- A measurement framework with indicators, targets, and owners.
- A review cadence for performance and learning.
- Recommendations to improve, scale, redirect, or stop the initiative.

Decision enabled

Is this creating enough value to continue—and what should change next?

A clear sequence. Not a rigid process.

Not every engagement needs all seven phases. We start where the challenge requires, use existing work where it is sound, and revisit earlier decisions when new evidence changes the picture.
The level of detail depends on the uncertainty, investment, and consequences involved. The goal is to do enough work to support a sound decision—and connect that decision to action.

Have a challenge, opportunity, or initiative that needs a clearer path forward?
